I
learned an interesting lesson about a week ago… People (and dogs) often ask “If
you were running out of a burning building and could only grab one thing, what
would you grab?” Well, I kind of got to test that theory. It was a hot
Saturday, and we had the windows open, and were doing laundry. Our laundry room
is very small, and shares a corner with our water heater (heated by natural
gas). We suddenly started smelling a strong smell or rotten eggs, and decided
it may be best to call maintenance from outside the apartment. The smell was
getting stronger, and we nervously shut off all the lights, and exited the premises.
Our neighbor saw us and asked what was going on. We filled him in on the
situation, and he asked if he could come in and take a look, as he was an
ex-fireman. We allowed him, and he took one sniff, and advise we not only get
out, but let the rest of the tenants in the same building know of the
situation, and call the fire department, and natural gas people. At that
moment, I was really afraid of the building possibly catching fire. In that
moment I realized something. I had my 2 masters, and they had each other. And
that would be enough if the building came down. We would have a lot of work to
do with insurance, passwords, and re-building afterword’s, but it could be
done. J God gave us each
other, and His love, and the promise that He would take care of the rest.
We
also told the bunnies not to play with matches anymore.
